Charlotte Popescu had the idea of writing The Apple Cookbook a number of years ago. The orchard and bees of her childhood with honey and apples galore had an impact on her current lifestyle, living the good life and being as self-sufficient as possible. In the autumn many apples on roadsides and in gardens seem to go to waste – The Apple Cookbook was designed to show how versatile the apple is and contains over 180 recipes. She went on to produce The Honey, Autumn and Summer Fruits Cookbooks.
All this led to developing a talk on apples covering the origins of the apple, myths, history, social history and interesting stories behind some of our best-known apples, including the Bramley and Cox. Also included are details on some of the best and tastiest varieties for your garden.
